Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets

Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Endpoint:
flammable solids
Data waiving:
study technically not feasible
Justification for data waiving:
the study does not need to be conducted because the substance is a liquid
Justification for type of information:
JUSTIFICATION FOR DATA WAIVING
The study does not need to be conducted beacuse the substance is a liquid
Reason / purpose for cross-reference:
data waiving: supporting information
Endpoint:
pyrophoric liquids
Data waiving:
study scientifically not necessary / other information available
Justification for data waiving:
the study does not need to be conducted because the substance is known to be stable in contact with air at room temperature for prolonged periods of time (days) and hence, the classification procedure does not need to be applied
Justification for type of information:
JUSTIFICATION FOR DATA WAIVING
The molecular structure of the test substance does not contain any chemical groups that might lead to spontaneous ignition a short time after coming into contact with air. The test was not performed experimentally because practical experience exists at the sponsor and the test facilities, e.g. when handling small amounts of the test substance repeatedly in air during testing.
Endpoint:
substances / mixtures which in contact with water emit flammable gases
Data waiving:
study scientifically not necessary / other information available
Justification for data waiving:
the study does not need to be conducted because the experience in production or handling shows that the substance does not react with water, e.g. the substance is manufactured with water or washed with water
Justification for type of information:
JUSTIFICATION FOR DATA WAIVING
The practical experience of the sponsor and the test facility shows that no gases are developed, when the test substance is in contact with water. The test substance is therefore regarded as not being flammable in contact with water.

Description of key information

Flammability: Data waiving (study technically not feasible). The study does not need to be conducted because the substance is a liquid.

Pyrophoricity: Data waiving (study scientifically not necessary): Based on experience, the substance is regarded as not pyrophoric.

Flammability in contact with water: Data waiving (study scientifically not necessary): Based on experience, the substance is not regarded as flammable in contact with water.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Flammability:
flammable

Additional information

Flammability: Data waiving (study technically not feasible). The study does not need to be conducted because the substance is a liquid.

Pyrophoricity: Data waiving (study scientifically not necessary): The molecular structure of the test substance does not contain any chemical groups that might lead to spontaneous ignition a short time after coming into contact with air. The test was not performed experimentally because practical experience exists at the sponsor and the test facilities, e.g. when handling small amounts of the test substance repeatedly in air during testing.

Flammability in contact with water: Data waiving (study scientifically not necessary): The practical experience of the sponsor and the test facility shows that no gases are developed, when the test substance is in contact with water. The test substance is therefore regarded as not being flammable in contact with water.

Justification for classification or non-classification

Based on the available data, the substance is classified as flammable liquid cat. 3 according to CLP Regulation (EC) no. 1272/2008 since the substance was found to have a flash point of 32ºC (see IUCLID section 4.11) which is between 23ºC and 60ºC.
