The high removal percentage demonstrates that the continuous activated sludge system treating domestic wastewater spiked with cocoamine performs very well. These results strongly indicate that cocoamine is completely (ultimately) degradad by microorganisms. Finally the high removal percentages demonstrate that recalcitrant water-soluble substances are not formed during the biodegradation test.

Table 2: Alkylamine Concentrations measured in the influent and effluent of the control and test unit and the calculated cocoamine concentration. the cocoamine concentartion was calculated by adding up the concetration of the alkylamines (C12 -18) and unsaturated octadecylamine (C18´).
