Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Endpoint:
short-term toxicity to fish
Data waiving:
study scientifically not necessary / other information available
Justification for data waiving:
other:
Justification for type of information:
As the target substance hydrolyses rapidly (half-life < 30 minutes) the intrinsic properties are related to hydrolysis products of the target substance. This information is used as a supporting evidence on the toxicity of the target substance in CSA.
Endpoint:
short-term toxicity to fish
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Reliability:
2 (reliable with restrictions)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
guideline study
Justification for type of information:
pentane-2,4-dione is the hydrolysis prodcuts of the target substance. Properties of the the two substance are used for read-across.
Qualifier:
equivalent or similar to guideline
Guideline:
OECD Guideline 203 (Fish, Acute Toxicity Test)
GLP compliance:
no
Test organisms (species):
Pimephales promelas

Additional information

No studies were conducted on the target substance. As the target substance hydrolyses rapidly (half-life < 30 minutes) the intrinsic properties are related to hydrolysis products of the target substance.

On the basis that if entering the environmental, this substance will quickly dissociate to form the inorganic (poorly soluble) titanium dioxide and organic ethanol, 2-propanol and acetylacetone. The titanium dioxide is not considered further in this report as aquatic toxicity assessments do not apply. The short-term aquatic toxicity studies of acetylacetone and 2-propanol are well-investigated are used for CSA.
