Executive summary:

The sample being an inorganic pigment is expected to have an extremely low solubility. 0.34 mg (lowest amount possible to weigh) of sample was weighed into a 1000 ml glass vessel, following this 1000 ml of HPLC grade water was added into the glass vessel. The sample was then shaken at 30°C for 72 hours. Once the sample had finished shaking the vessel was allowed to stand and equilibrate at 20°C for 24 hours. It was observed that sample remained undissolved after this process and the limit of solubility is less than 0.34 mg/L. The test cannot progress any further due to apparatus constraints and the nature of the sample. A calibration plot cannot be constructed without the sample being fully in solution at known concentrations.

Description of key information

The sample being an inorganic pigment is expected to have an extremely low solubility. It was observed that the sample remained undissolved after the test was conducted and the solubility was measures to less than 0.34 mg/L. The test could not progress any further due to apparatus constraints and the nature of the sample.

Key value for chemical safety assessment
