Proper weights of the test substance (1.0004 g-1.0009 g) were added into the jar filled with 10 L water. Before the fish were exposed the test solutions were stirred with magnetic force with the speed of 450 rpm for 1 hour. After 1 hour of stirring the speed of the magnetic force rotor was maintained at 200 rpm and then 5 fish was put into the test vessel.

Executive summary:

A study was performed to assess the acute toxicity to the zebrafish (Danio rerio) of ZrC. A preliminary test was conducted using one test concentration of 100 mg/L. A concurrent water control group was performed in parallel. 5 fish were used in each concentration. The preliminary test was performed with a semi-static water renewal system. Dissolved oxygen and pH values were determined at the beginning of the test and at 24-hour intervals during the exposure period.

During the 96-hours exposure period. No mortality and toxic symptoms were found in control group and treatment group.
Based on the results, the 96 h LC50 of ZrC was greater than 100 mg/L (nominal concentration) to fish under the experiment condition of this study.
