Description of key information

Due to the high insolubility of the ZrC in water, aquatic toxicity is considered unlikely to occur. Hence, conducting aqautic toxicity studies with daphnia, algea and activated sludge is scientifically not necessary.

This is supported by available acute toxicity data on fish: ZrC did not cause mortality in Danio rerio when introduced in test aquaria at a nominal concentration of 100 mg/L (daily renewal of test solution, total exposure duration: 96 h).
