Toxicity to reproduction: other studies

Description of key information

The only data for the assessment of the reproductive toxicity of lauryl chloride are publicly available, but proprietary data, which have been submitted to the US EPA under the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA). In a combined oral repeated-dose/reproductive screening study in rats (according to OECD 422 and US EPA TSCA 799.9365), the NOAEL for reproduction was at the highest dose tested of 1000 mg/kg, whereas the NOAEL for development was at 300mg/kg based on lower postnatal survival and reduced pup body weights in the high dose group of 1000 mg/kg.

Justification for classification or non-classification

Information on reproductive toxicity of lauryl chloride was obtained in a combined oral repeated-dose/reproductive screening study in rats. In this study, the NOAEL for reproduction was at the highest dose tested of 1000 mg/kg, whereas the NOAEL for development was at 300 mg/kg. Based on the results of this study there are no hints for reproductive toxicity of lauryl chloride that would lead to a classification according to Regulation (EC) 1272/2008.
