Description of key information
No reliable data are available for the effect of Ti metal to terrestrial organisms and read-across to upgraded ilmenites is used. Reliable chronic toxicity data are available for the effect of upgraded ilmenite slags (>80% TiO2) to a monocotyledon and dicotyledon plant (barley and lettuce, respectively). No significant effect was seen up to the largest dose tested, resulting in an unbounded NOEC of >= 100000 mg/kg dw, equivalent to >=60000 mg Ti/kg dw.
