No reliable acute toxicity data to fish are available for Ti metal. Read-across is proposed to TiO2. Reliable toxicity data to aquatic organisms are available for a range of TiO2 products with varying particle size (from nano-particles to bulk powders). For aquatic toxicity we can conclude that algae are the most sensitive species. Only unbounded L(E)C50 values are available for both fish and invertebrates, ranging from >1 to >10000 mg TiO2/L (corresponding to >0.6 to >6000 mg Ti/L). The lowest L(E)C50 value was observed for growth rate of the freshwater algae Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata: 61 mg TiO2/L, with a corresponding chronic EC10 of 12.7 mg TiO2/L (equivalent to 36.6 mg Ti/L and 7.62 mg Ti/L, respectively).
