Modelling data according to Mackay et al. showed that about 72% of bis(2ethylhexyl)maleinate is distributed within the soil phase when released into the environment. About 23% of the substance reaches the water phase. Based on a Koc value of 153400 L/kg it can be assumed that it is highly adsorbed onto soil particles and the suspended solids of the water phase. However, only a small amount of about 2.5% reached the sediment phase. The Henry's law constant of 4.16 Pa*m³/mol shows that the potential of bis(2ethylhexyl)maleinate to volatilise from the water surface is not very high, which is confirmed by the modelling data which showed that only 2% reaches the air. An adsorption to airborne particles based on the Koc value cannot be excluded.
