Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

A non-GLP study conducted equivalent or similar to the OECD Guideline for the Testing of Chemicals. 103 "Boiling Point / Boiling Range" determined the boiling point of 2 -ethylhexanoic acid to be 228 °C at 1013,25 hPa. An older non-GLP study conducted, using the dynamic method, determined the boiling point to be 227 °C at 992,7 mBar.

This was supported by different literature sources which reported the boiling point to be in a range of 226-229°C at 1013 hPa (Karel Verschueren 226 -229 °C, Design Institute for Physical Properties 227,5 °C and the CRC Handbook of Chemistry and Physics 228 °C). The value from the recent study wa chosen as key value for the boiling point.
