Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

The long-term Key fish study from Brown et al. resulted in a LOEC-, NOEC- and LC0-7d
of 4.96 or rather 5.58 mg/L aluminium potassium bis sulphate for Oncorhynchus mykiss
as fish species. The first long-term supporting fish study from Weatherley with Brown trout eggs
resulted in a NOEC-21d of > 9.6 mg/L aluminium potassium bis sulphate
calculated from Al. The second long-term fish study with aluminium sulphate from
Cleveland et al. with eyed eggs and juveniles from Salvelinus fontinalis showed
a NOEC-30/60d of 1.36 - 1.62 mg/L calculated for aluminium potassium bis sulphate.
The other two supporting studies of the Ministry of Environment, Lands
and Parks Province of British Columbia with sulfate for effect (sub)lethal tests
with embryo and sac-fry stage fishes from species Oncorhynchus mykiss
and Pimephales promelas showed NOEC-7d and LOEC-7d values of 1923 mg/L and
6351 mg/L for Oncorhynchus mykiss and 1923 mg/L and 6623 mg/L calculated
for potassium sulfate as read across substance and second dissociation product from
aluminium potassium bis sulphate.
For all long-term toxicity studies on fish freshwater fish species were used.
NOEC-7d Oncorhynchus mykiss: 5.58 mg/L aluminium potassium bis sulphate.
Calculated for Aluminium potassium bis sulphate: Nominal NOEC-21d Salmo trutta > 9.6 mg/L.
The calculated NOEC for Potassium sulfate: 1923 mg/L and 6351 mg/L for survival and growth
of Oncorhynchus mykiss and 1923 mg/L and 6623 mg/L of Pimephales promelas.
Estimated for aluminium potassium bis sulphate: NOEC-30/60d for fry brook trout:
1.36-1.62 mg/L Aluminium potassium bis sulphate.
Based on the value of NOEC-7d Oncorhynchus mykiss: 5.58 mg/L aluminium potassium bis sulphate
the PNEC freshwater and PNEC marine water were calculated.

NOEC-7d Oncorhynchus mykiss: 5.58 mg/L aluminium potassium bis sulphate.

Based on this value the PNEC freshwater and PNEC marine water were calculated.
