Additional information

Aquatic toxicity is unlikely at the level of solubility of trichromium dicarbide. According to column 2 of REACH Annex VIII, the study is not needed for highly insoluble substances.

For comparison, however, toxicity data obtained with mainly trivalent chromium compounds has been presented in various endpoints. This is only for informational purposes to clarify that the toxic concentrations are much higher than the concentrations arising in the environmental conditions from trichromium dicarbide. The solubility of chromium (from chromium oxide in chronic T/D test) is ca. 0.005 microg/L, and the toxic concentrations typically of the order of milligrams/litre.
