Description of key information

The log Pow of the substance was both calculated by using KOWWIN and estimated by using HPLC-method according to OECD guideline 117. Stearic acid and N-[3 -(dimethylamino)propyl]stearamide were used as typical structures with the calculated log Pow of 7.94 and 7.35, respectively. From HPLC estimation, the log Pow of the test substance was in the range of 4.3-5.6.

As for this UVCB substance log Kow is described as a range the mean of this range was chosen to appropriately describe this parameter and to be the relevant value for the risk assessment. The test substance is a surface active and ionisable UVCB substance. These characteristics result no fully suitable experimental method to quantify the log Pow of the test substance. HPLC-method is considered as the most realistic and feasible method to characterize its log Pow. To avoid underestimation and take worst case into account, the log Pow of each half of the salt with their typical structures was also calculated with acceptable method (KOWWIN). Results from both methods were far above 3 and hence indicating high hydrophobic property of the substance and consequent high accumulation potential.
