Weight of evidence: Read-across approach from analogue substance Wasox-VMAC2:

A ready biodegradability test was performed with the analogue substance Wasox-VMAC2 in accordance with OECD Guideline 301 B and GLP. The carbon dioxide evolution from the test substance with a nominal concentration of 15 mg Carbon/L reached a maximum of 23.6 % after 28 days of incubation at 21.6 ± 0.5 °C and it was determined to be not readily biodegradable. Based on these results, the read-across approach was applied and the test item EAC3 was also determined to be not readily biodegradable.

A ready biodegradability test was performed with the analogue substance Wasox-MMAC2 in accordance with OECD Guideline 301 B and GLP. The carbon dioxide evolution from the test substance with a nominal concentration of 15 mg Carbon/L reached a maximum of 32.1 % after 28 days of incubation at 21.6 ± 0.5 °C and it was determined to be not readily biodegradable. Based on these results, the read-across approach was applied and the test item EAC3 was also determined to be not readily biodegradable.

Weight of evidence: Read-across approach from analogue substance acetone oxime:

A ready biodegradation in a Closed Bottle Test over a period of 28 days was performed on the hydrolysis product acetone oxime in accordance with OECD Guideline 301D and GLP. The biodegradation was followed by the oxygen uptake of the microorganisms (4 g dry activated sludge per liter) during exposure. Under the test conditions the percentage biodegradation of acetone oxime reached a mean of 9.1 % after 28 days based on its ThODNO3 and therefore, it was determined to be not ready biodegradable. Acetone oxime was assumed to be not inhibitory at the applied concentration level of 2.5 mg/L on the activated sludge microorganisms since the biodegradation at 14 days was >25% in the toxicity control test. Based on these results, the read-across approach was applied and EAC3 was also expected to be not ready biodegradable.
