Melting point/range

Begin

End

First Determination

243.5 °C (516.7 K)

246.3 °C (519.5 K)

Second Determination

243.0 °C (516.2 K)

245.8 °C (519.0 K)

Slightly colour change to pink was observed at approx.190 °C. The test item melted to a red - brown liquid.

After cooling down, the test item did not change back into the original state, but remained red – brown.

In the study 13111801G904 “Determination of the melting point of N-[4-(2,4-dihydroxyphenyl)thiazol-2-yl]isobutyramide according to OECD 102 resp. EU A.1” the test item melted at 243.3 to 246.1 °C (516.5 to 519.3 K) under decomposition. Decomposition was indicated by a colour change of the test item to pink at approx. 190 °C. After cooling down the test item was red brown, which is a clear sign of decomposition as well.

The means between both determinations give the following values for the melting range:

Melting range: 243.3 °C – 246.1 °C (516.5 to 519.3 K).

Standard deviation: 0.4 °C (begin); 0.4 °C (end)

Estimated accuracy: ± 0.5 °C
