Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

The test was conducted for 7 days at 23 to 24 °C, under continuous illumination at 600 to 850 footcandles (6500 to 9100 lux). The dilution water used was 20X Algal Assay Procedure (AAP) medium.
The nominal concentrations used were 6.3, 13, 25, 50 and 100 mg/L which correspond to mean measured concentrations of 5.7, 12, 23, 46 and 93 mg/L.
The 7 day EC50 for growth rate, biomass and cell density is >93 mg/L (mean measured), this corresponds to a nominal concentration of >100 mg/L. The 7 day NOEC is 93 mg/L (100 mg/L nominal).
Additional testing to further define the EC50 values was not performed since the highest nominal concentration tested was equivalent to the maximum concentration required by the U.S. EPA and OECD guidelines (100 mg/L).

Key value for chemical safety assessment

EC10 or NOEC for freshwater plants:
93 mg/L

Additional information

The acute toxicity of the test material and water to the Duckweed, Lemna gibba was investigated during a study conducted at Springborn Smithers Laboratories. The test was performed from 24 February to 6 March 2006 and was conducted according to OECD Guideline 221 (Lemna sp. Growth Inhibition test).

This study is presented as the key information as the reliability rating for this study is 1, according to the criteria of Klimisch, 1997.
