Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

The flammability of liquids is determined on basis of their flash point (in combination with their boiling point), their ability to emit flammable gases upon contact with water and their pyrophoricity. The molecular structure of Cyclobutanate does not contain groups that indicate potential reactivity with water or pyrophoric properties. The flash point of 134 °C indicates that Cyclobutanate is not a flammable liquid.

- The substance has a low flashpoint (134°C) indicating non-flammability.

- As the substance does not contain metals or metalloids and as experience in handling and use shows that the substance or mixture does not react with water, the substance does not emit flammable gases when in contact with water.

- The substance is not considered to be a self-heating substance as the substance is a liquid and the surface of liquids is not large enough for reaction with air.

- The substance is known to be stable in contact with air at room temperature for prolonged periods of time (days) and hence, is does not have pyrophoric properties.

Additional information

Justification for classification or non-classification

Based on the flashpoint of 134°C the substance does not needs to be classified as flammable.

Based on its structural features the substance does not need to be classified as pyrophoric, self-heating, and emitting flammable gases when in contact with water according to the EU CLP (EC No. 1272/2008 and its amendments).
