There is no data available on the toxicity to invertebrates potential of Amides, C16 and C18-C20 (even numbered, unsaturated), N,Nā€™-ethylenebis. In order to fulfil the standard information requirements set out in Annex VII, 9.1.1, in accordance with Annex XI, 1.5, of Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006, read-across from a structurally related substance is conducted.

A detailed justification for the grouping of chemicals and read-across is provided in Sections 6.1 and 13.

The short-term toxicity of Amides, C16 and C18-C20 (even numbered, unsaturated), N,Nā€™-ethylenebis to invertebrates was assessed in a read across approach using data from the structural analogue Amides, C16-C18 (even), N,N'-ethylenebis. Two studies investigating the short-term toxicity of the test item to Daphnia magna were available. A report from the Japanese Ministry of Environment (MOE, 2005) was chosen as key study. The test was done according to OECD 202. The results show that after 48 h exposure to the test compound, up to the highest attainable concentration (0.0022 mg/L), no immobilization was observed for Daphnia magna. Therefore, the EC50 (48 h) was > 0.0022 mg/L, and no toxicity was observed within the range of water solubility. The test performed in the supporting study (Heyner, 2002) was carried out according to OECD 202, but not under GLP conditions. Daphnids were exposed to four (nominal) test concentrations, 10, 100, 1000 and 10000 mg/L, for 24 and 48 h. At the end of the test the EC50 (48 h) was found to be > 10000 mg/L.
