Guidance on Safe Use
Administrative data
First-aid measures
• General information:
Immediately remove any clothing soiled by the product.
Symptoms of poisoning may even occur after several hours; therefore
medical observation for at least 48 hours after the accident.
• After inhalation:
Supply fresh air. If required, provide artificial respiration. Consult
doctor if symptoms persist.
• After skin contact:
Immediately wash with water and soap and rinse thoroughly.
If skin irritation continues, consult a doctor.
• After eye contact:
Rinse opened eye for several minutes under running water. Then consult
a doctor.
• After swallowing:
Rinse out mouth and then drink plenty of water.
Do not induce vomiting; call for medical help immediately.
• Information for doctor
• The following symptoms may occur:
Headache
Nausea
Fire-fighting measures
• Suitable extinguishing agents:
Water spray, CO2, extinguishing powder, alcohol-resistant foam.
• Special hazards caused by the material, its products of combustion or
resulting gases:
Carbon monoxide (CO)
Nitrogen oxides (NOx)
• Protective equipment:
Mount respiratory protective device.
Wear fully protective suit.
Accidental release measures
• Person-related safety precautions:
Keep people at a distance and stay on the windward side.
Wear protective clothing.
• Measures for environmental protection:
Do not allow to enter sewers/ surface or ground water.
• Measures for cleaning/collecting:
Absorb with liquid-binding material (sand, diatomite, acid binders,
universal binders, sawdust).
Dispose of the material collected according to regulations.
Handling and storage
• Handling
• Information for safe handling:
Ensure good ventilation/exhaustion at the workplace.
• Information about protection against explosions and fires:
Keep respiratory protective device available.
• Storage
• Requirements to be met by storerooms and receptacles:
Suitable material for receptacles: stainless steel and plastics.
Unsuitable material for receptacle: carbon steel.
• Information about storage in one common storage facility: Not required.
• Further information about storage conditions:
Keep receptacle tightly sealed.

Exposure controls / personal protection
Components with limit values that require monitoring at the workplace:-
111-76-2 2-butoxyethanol
OES:
Short-term value: 50 ppm
Long-term value: 25 ppm
Sk, IOELV
• Personal protective equipment
• General protective and hygienic measures:
Keep away from foodstuffs, beverages and feed.
Immediately remove all soiled and contaminated clothing
Wash hands before breaks and at the end of work.
Avoid contact with the eyes and skin.
• Breathing equipment:
Use suitable respiratory protective device in case of insufficient
ventilation.
Short term filter device:
Filter A.
• Protection of hands: Protective gloves.
• Material of gloves Butyl rubber, BR
• Penetration time of glove material
The determined penetration times according to EN 374 part III are not
performed under practical conditions. Therefore a maximum wearing time,
which corresponds to 50% of the penetration time, is recommended.
• Eye protection: Face protection
• Body protection: Protective work clothing.
Stability and reactivity
• Thermal decomposition / conditions to be avoided:
No decomposition if used according to specifications.
• Materials to be avoided: oxidizing agents
• Dangerous products of decomposition:
No dangerous decomposition products known
Disposal considerations
• Product
• Recommendation:
Must not be disposed together with household garbage. Do not allow
product to reach sewage system.
• European waste catalogue
For this product, in accordance with the European Waste Catalogue
(EWC), a cataloguenumber cannot be given, because the customer has to
lay down the purpose first. The cataloguenumber has to be given
according to the local waste-removal.
• Uncleaned packagings
• Recommendation:
With due observance of local regulations, for instance transport to
refuse incinerator.
• Recommended cleansing agent:
Water, if necessary together with cleansing agents.
