No reliable data is available on acute toxicity of selenous acid.
Justification for classification or non-classification
Since no reliable data is available on repeated dose toxicity of selenous acid it is proposed to adopt the harmonised classification as laid down in Regulation (EC) No. 1272/2008 and subsequent regulations. Selenous acid (as part of the group entry "selenium compounds except cadmium sulphoselenide") is classified for STOT RE 2:" May cause damage to organs through prolonged or repeated exposure" (H373).
