Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

In accordance with REACH Annex XI, Section 2, testing of the bioaccumulation potential of organolignite into fish is technically infeasible and therefore this testing is waived.

Additional information

In accordance with REACH Annex XI, Section 2, testing of the bioaccumulation potential of organolignite into fish is technically infeasible and therefore this testing is waived. Organolignite is a UVCB consisting of multiple components with different physical/chemical (e.g., water solubility) and environmental fate properties. Organolignite cannot be dissolved into a homogenous solution and radiolabeling of organolignite is technically infeasible. The use of Total Organic Carbon as an analytical method for organolignite lacks sufficient specificity. As a result, analytical identification and quantification of organolignite to support a bioaccumulation assessment is not technically possible. Furthermore, the high molecular weight (estimated at > 20000 Da) and log Kow (< 4.5) of organolignite indicates a low potential for bioaccumulation.
