Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Endpoint:
water solubility
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Study period:
May to October 2019
Reliability:
1 (reliable without restriction)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
guideline study
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
EU Method A.6 (Water Solubility)
Deviations:
no
GLP compliance:
yes
Type of method:
flask method
Key result
Water solubility:
< 0 g/L
Conc. based on:
test mat. (dissolved fraction)
Temp.:
20 °C
pH:
>= 7.6 - <= 7.8
Details on results:
Since samples indicated a detector response less than the 1.0 x 10-3 mg/L standard solution, a limit value for the sample solutions was calculated based on that concentration, and then correcting for the sample dilution factor of 1.02 and the nominal nickel content of the test item (60% w/w).
Conclusions:
The water solubility of the test item has been determined to be less than 1.7 x 10-6 g/L (0.0000017 g/L) of solution at 20.0 ± 0.5 °C.
Executive summary:

On completion of the equilibration period, the samples were clear and colorless with excess test item present at the bottom of the test vessels; the sample blanks were clear, colorless solutions. The solutions were decanted, avoiding excess test item prior to filtration. After centrifugation, each supernatant was taken for analysis. Each supernatant was visually observed to be clear, colorless and free from un-dissolved test item. The water solubility of the test item has been determined to be less than 1.7 x 10-6 g/L(0.0000017 g/L) of solution at 20.0 ± 0.5 °C.
