In the preliminary test the ignition flame was enlarged at a temperature of approx. 150 °C. At 180 °C the whole sample burned in the apparatus, which could be observed visually. The apparatus detected no ignition. Thus the main test was performed, starting at 170 °C.

In the main test the lowest temperature where an ignition was observed was 152.0 °C.

The measured flash point is corrected to the ambient pressure to be 151.9 °C.

Executive summary:

A study was conducted according to Regulation (EC) No 440/2008 method A.9, OPPTS 830.6315 and ISO 3679:2004 to determine flash point of the test item using a closed cup method. The start temperature for the main test (170 °C) was chosen based on he preliminary test. Therefore 2 mL of the test item are filled in the cup and heated to the estimated temperature. Then the substance was maintained for at least 1 minute at this temperature. The flame was dipped in the cup and it was checked if ignition occurred. The measured flash point at atmospheric pressure was corrected to a standard pressure of 1013 hPa. The flash point was determined to be at 151.9 °C (corrected to the ambient pressure). Thus, the flash point of the test item was determined to be 151.5 °C (corrected and rounded down to the nearest multiple of 0.5 °C) at 1013.25 hPa.
