Experimental data on bioaccumulation of Iron (III) orthophosphate (CAS 10045-86-0) are not available. The substance is however poorly water soluble according to the OECD guidance 29, revealing a low level of dissolution of ionic iron in water. Consequently, the substance is poorly bioavailable for aquatic organisms. Furthermore background concentrations of iron in the environment are higher than the dissolved Fe3+ concentration levels of the substance indicating that organisms are exposed to higher natural background iron concentrations compared to the released amount from the substance. Iron is moreover an essential elements for life required for many physiological functions. Most of organisms physiologically regulate concentrations of essential metals like iron in their body. It is expected that aquatic organisms will homeostatically regulate the low amounts of released iron concentrations from the substance and no concern with regard to toxicological bioaccumulation arises.
