Endpoint:
boiling point
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Reliability:
1 (reliable without restriction)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
guideline study
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
EU Method A.2 (Boiling Temperature)
Version / remarks:
Council Regulation (EC) No. 440/2008
Deviations:
yes
Remarks:
The difference between the boiling points of the two assays retained was higher than 1 °C. This deviation was not considered to have affected the quality or the interpretation of the results obtained.
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
OECD Guideline 103 (Boiling Point)
GLP compliance:
yes (incl. QA statement)
Type of method:
differential scanning calorimetry
Key result
Boiling pt.:
250.9 °C
Atm. press.:
1 013 hPa
Remarks on result:
other: Accuracy of ± 2.1 °C

Nine assays were perforned during the test and despite two of these assays did not comply with the accuracy criterion, they were conserved. Only these assays are presented in the mean value of the boiling point.

The assays No. 1, 3 and 6 were not taken into account due to a bad baseline before the boiling peak.

The assay No. 2 was not taken into account due to no boiling point was observed. The assays No. 5, 7 and 8 were not taken into account due to 2 peaks appearing.

Assay No. 4

Gas used: Nitrogen

Ventilation: Yes

Atmospheric pressure: 98.0 kPa

Crucible used: Aluminium, 120 µL, with pierced lid

Mass of test item: 31.35 mg

Program: Phase 1; Isotherm at about 25°C for 5 min. Heating phase from 25°C to 400 °C at 10 °C/min

Assay No. 9

Gas used: Nitrogen

Ventilation: Yes

Atmospheric pressure: 98.4 kPa

Crucible used: Aluminium, 120 µL, with pierced lid

Mass of test item: 29.92 mg

Program: Phase 1; Isotherm at about 25 °C for 5 min. Heating phase from 25°C to 400°C at 10 °C/min

Conclusions:
A boiling point of 250.9 ± 2.1 °C at 1013 hPa was determined by an appropiate guideline method. The result is considered to be reliable.

Description of key information

Boiling point: 250.9 ± 2.1 °C (EU Method A.2)

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Boiling point at 101 325 Pa:
250.9 °C

Additional information

A measured boiling point of 250.9 ± 2.1 °C at 1013 hPa was determined for the substance using a differential scanning calorimethry (DSC) method in accordance with EU Method A.2 and in compliance with GLP. The result is considered to be reliable and assigned as the key study.

The key study is supported by a predicted boiling point value of 220°C at 1013 hPa which was obtained for the submission substance using a validated QSAR estimation method.

In a secondary source to which reliability could not be assigned, boiling point value of 112°C at 6.7 hPa was reported for the substance.
