Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Endpoint:
relative self-ignition temperature (solids)
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Study period:
February from 2nd to 3rd, 2016
Reliability:
1 (reliable without restriction)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
test procedure in accordance with generally accepted scientific standards and described in sufficient detail
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
EU Method A.16 (Relative Self-Ignition Temperature for Solids)
Deviations:
no
GLP compliance:
yes (incl. QA statement)
Relative self-ignition temperature:
359.5 °C

Temperature of the test substance exceeded oven temperature in 250 °C.

There was sharp rises of temperature but it did not reached the value 400 °C on the data records. Second rise of temperature reached the value 400 °C when the temperature of the test substance was 368.3 °C (for the first experiment) and 366.9 °C (for the second experiment). Average temperature after correction was 359.5 °C. Relative self-ignition temperature for the test substance is 359.5 °C.

Conclusions:
Relative self-ignition temperature for the test substance is 359.5 °C.
Executive summary:

The autoflammability of the test substance has been investigated according to the EU Method A.16. The cube is filled with the substance to be tested and is tapped gently, adding more of the substance until the cube is completely full. The cube is then suspended in the center of the oven at room temperature. One thermocouple is placed at the center of the cube and the other between the cube and the oven wall to record the oven temperature. The temperatures of the oven and sample are continuously recorded while the temperature of the oven is increased to 400 °C, or to the melting point if lower, at a rate of 0.5 °C/min.
