-18 hour IC50 = 21 mg/L

No measured data are available on the toxicity of tetrahydro-3-methylfuran to microorganisms. However, based on data from an OECD 209 guideline study on a close structurally related substance, tetrahydrofuran (CAS# 109-99-9), which resulted in a 3-hour IC50 value of 460 mg/L and an 18-hour IC50 value of 21 mg/L (Talini, I. and Tokta, S.; 1994), it can be expected that 3meTHF will not be toxic to microorganisms at typical discharge concentrations.
