Description of key information

Auto Ignition / Auto Flammability Temperature: approximately 270 °C.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Autoflammability / Self-ignition temperature at 101 325 Pa:
270 °C

Additional information

No measured data are available on the auto ignition / auto flammability temperature of tetrahydro-3-methylfuran. However, 2-methyltetrahydrofuran is reported to have an auto ignition / auto flammability temperature of 270 °C. This value is considered an adequate approximation of the auto ignition / auto flammability temperature of tetrahydro-3-methylfuran for purposes of hazard assessment given that the substance is classified as a flammable liquid (Cat. 2).
