The Biocides Stakeholders' Day

The European Chemicals Agency organises its first Biocides Stakeholders' Day on 25 June 2013 in Helsinki.
In preparation for the application date of the Biocidal Products Regulation (BPR) on 1 September 2013, the Stakeholders' Day aims to engage key biocides stakeholders with information about the new regulation to ensure that companies are aware of their roles and available tools and resources to assist them in meeting their obligations.

Topical Scientific Workshop on Risk Assessment for the Sediment Compartment

The workshop aims to bring together experts in the field of sediment risk assessment to brainstorm and develop updated scientific principles for assessing the ecological risks of chemical substances for freshwater and marine sediments. The discussions will be reinforced by information of the recent developments for particular substance types (such as metals) and also of risk assessment methodologies applied in chemicals management outside the EU.
Fourth meeting of the ECHA-Stakeholder Exchange Network on Exposure Scenarios (ENES 4)

The European Chemicals Agency together with the European Chemical Industry Council (Cefic), Eurometaux, CONCAWE (the oil companies' European association), the European Association of Chemical Distributors (Fecc) and the International Association for Soaps, Detergents and Maintenance Products (AISE) on behalf of the Downstream Users of Chemicals Coordination Group (DUCC) are coordinating the next meeting of ENES.
Eighth Stakeholders' Day

The conference offers participants the chance to hear the latest news and updates from ECHA, European industry associations and NGOs. The event takes place close to the second REACH Registration Deadline of 31 May 2013, providing a platform for registrants, in particular those preparing individual submissions to receive last-minute advice and guidance.
ECHA's REACH-IT and IUCLID workshop for Croatian authorities and industry

The European Chemicals Agency organises a REACH-IT and IUCLID workshop for Croatian authorities and industry. The workshop offers interested stakeholders from Croatia the chance to participate in REACH-IT and IUCLID hands-on training. The event will take place close to the Croatian accession to the European Union and it will also bring an opportunity to hear the latest news and updates from ECHA on relevant IT-tools adjusted to the specific situation of Croatian companies.

Targeted expert consultation: cycloxydim

The Committee for Risk Assessment (RAC) is currently developing an opinion on a proposal for the harmonised classification of cycloxydim for flammability (according to criteria in Annex VI, Dir. 67/548/EEC). The proposal was submitted to ECHA in August 2011 and has been subject of a public consultation ending on 1 October 2011.
Workshop on QSAR Toolbox version 3.0

ECHA and the OECD invite industry users to a workshop introducing version 3.0 of the QSAR Toolbox. The aim of the workshop is to encourage registrants to use the Toolbox to fill data gaps as well as to share best practice for performing and reporting predictions. ECHA and the OECD also wish to collect feedback from industry on the use of the Toolbox.
Second lead registrant workshop

The workshop is targeted at lead registrants and will take place in ECHA's conference centre. As for the previous workshop in February 2012, the content will be coordinated together with the Agency's Accredited Stakeholder Organisations and industry associations who will be leading parts of the programme.
Scientific discussion on the adequacy of two in vivo tests

ECHA invites experts with regulatory, scientific, industrial and stakeholder backgrounds for an open discussion on the use the transgenic rodent gene mutation assay (TGR) and the unscheduled DNA synthesis assay (UDS) under REACH. The aim is to produce a document about the scientific adequacy of both assays to support stakeholders in their testing strategy decisions.
Chemicals at the workplace: REACH and OSH in practice

Workshop on Strictly Controlled Conditions

The European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) held a one day workshop on 24 May 2012 on Strictly Controlled Conditions (SCCs).
ECHA met with the representatives of the participating Member States in the Forum pilot project on intermediates to clarify ECHA's understanding of the Guidance on Intermediates and the interpretation of the SCCs.
ECHA Seventh Stakeholders' Day

The conference offers participants the chance to hear the latest news and updates from ECHA, European industry associations and NGOs. As in previous years, ECHA offers participants the possibility to book one-to-one sessions with the Agency's scientific experts to discuss specific topics and to receive advice and guidance for key processes relevant to the implementation of the European chemicals legislation.

Workshop on scientific issues related to oils, fats and waxes obtained from genetically modified plants in the context of REACH

This workshop provided a platform for Member State experts to discuss and present their views on the applicability of the exemption from the requirement to register substances derived from vegetable oils, fats and waxes obtained from genetically modified plants. This exemption is laid down in Annex V entry 9 to the REACH Regulation.
Conference on REACH and CLP Enforcement

The European Commission hosted a Conference on REACH and CLP Enforcement on 1 March 2012, which gathered member state authorities and stakeholders to discuss activities and best practice in enforcing the new legislation.
The conference concluded that enforcement plays a critical role in the success of REACH and CLP and that it is important to ensure harmonised enforcement across the EEA.
Stakeholders indicated their support for enforcement and said they are keen to see how the Forum could enhance the harmonisation of enforcement actions. ECHA's Forum also presented their activities at the event.
More than 400 participants attended the event in Brussels and over 600 viewed online via web stream.

Workshop on the validity of the use of the 'rapid removal' concept

ECHA met with members of the Risk Assessment Committee (RAC), and representatives of the Member States and industry to discuss the validity of the concept of 'rapid removal' for aquatic environmental long-term hazard classification of metals and inorganic metal compounds.

Seminar on the publication of information from the applications for authorisation process with industry representatives

ECHA met with representatives of Industry to provide an update on its preparatory activities for the implementation of the authorisation process and to gather stakeholders' input in an efficient and transparent manner.
The seminar focused on several issues concerning the "Broad Information on Uses" with the aim of ensuring an efficient and meaningful involvement of interested parties in the public consultations on alternatives.
Workshop on the use of the QSAR Toolbox: Feedback from Industry Users and Development Needs

The first workshop with QSAR Toolbox industry users was held at ECHA on 24 November 2011. Nearly 30 representatives from industry, with practical knowledge on the use of the QSAR Toolbox, shared their experience and expressed their needs for further development and support.
The objectives of the workshop were:
- Sharing experience and best practice from the use of the QSAR Toolbox
- Identifying needs for implementation of additional features in the QSAR Toolbox
- Identifying needs for other types of support in view of the next registration deadline 2013
Four industry speakers provided insight on how they use the QSAR Toolbox, where they see need for further development and support and what are considered as current barriers for using the QSAR Toolbox. Long term objectives and plans for version 3.0 were introduced by the OECD secretariat.

REACH - Substance Identity Workshop

On the 1 December 2009 the European Chemicals Agency will hold a Substance Identity Workshop in Helsinki. The workshop will clarify key substance identity concepts in the context of REACH processes such as inquiry and registration. This event is for people in companies who are responsible for dossier preparation who have questions on substance identity. Since the number of places available is limited to 100, companies are invited to send one delegate only. Participation will then be confirmed on a first come first served basis.
Lead Registrants Workshop

ECHA organised together with the European Commission a workshop for Lead Registrants in Brussels on 11 September 2009. The aim of the workshop was to inform the Lead Registrants about the support available, about the best practices of well functioning SIEFs, how to build registrations dossiers and how to fulfil information requirements.
The 11 September workshop launched a series of information sessions that are directed in particular to Lead Registrants in order to facilitate their work.

Conference on EU and world-wide rules for classification, labelling and packaging of chemicals
