The value of the partition coefficient was estimated from the solubilities of the test substance in the pure solvents.

For the solubility of the test substance in water, the value obtained in the water solubility was used (355.7 mg/l). For the solubility of the test substance in n-octanol, the test substance was mixed with n-octanol in proportion of 1:1, respectively 1:2 and 2:1. The test substance totally mixed with n-octanol in all proportions. Therefore, a solubility of 1 000g/l n-octanol was established.

The log of the estimate of the partition coefficient n-octanol/water was calculated was 3.4.

In the main test, the test item recoveries in n-octanol and aqueous phases were determined. The recoveries were between 104 and 106%.

Conclusions:
The log Kow of the test item is 2.48 at pH 6 and 23°C. Based on this value, the test item is considered to not possess a potential for bioaccumulation.
Executive summary:

The partition coefficient of the test item was determined with the flash method according to recognised guideline and under GLP. No deviation from the guideline was observed during the test.

The test item partition coefficient was estimated in a preliminary test. Then a main test was performed using three vessels with different ratios of n-octanol and aqueous phase.

The log Kow of the test item is 2.48 at pH 6 and 23°C. Based on this value, the test item is considered to not possess a potential for bioaccumulation.

Description of key information

The partition coefficient of the test item was determined in an experimental key study of Klimisch validity 1.
