Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Type of information:
other: in house data
Adequacy of study:
key study
Study period:
Not applicable.
Reliability:
1 (reliable without restriction)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
other: The physical form of the substance is well documented in observations made in study reports and the associated SDS. Colour was determined using ASTM method D1500 for oil products.
Principles of method if other than guideline:
The physical form of the substance is well documented in observations made in study reports and the associated SDS. Colour was determined using ASTM method D1500 for oil products.
Physical state at 20°C and 1013 hPa:
liquid
Form:
viscous
Colour:
Assessed using ASTM COLOUR scale by ASTM D 1500. Referred to as the "mineral oil colour value", the ASTM Colour Scale is widely used for the grading of petroleum products such as lubricating oils, heating oils and diesel fuel oils. Mineral oils are constantly checked for colour during processing in order to establish when they have been refined to the required grade. Colour is also used as a means of confirming that the correct oil or fuel is being used for its intended use and that no contamination or degradation of quality has occurred. ASTM D1500 is a single number, one dimensional, colour scale ranging from a pale straw through to a deep red in sixteen steps (0.5 - 8.0 units in increments of 0.5 units). The substance has a colour scale rating of 0.5 units.
Odour:
odourless
Substance type:
organic
Conclusions:
The substance is an odourless bright / clear viscous liquid.
Executive summary:

The substance is an odourless bright / clear viscous liquid. The physical form of the substance is well documented in observations made in study reports and the associated SDS. As such a definitive study report on the physical form of the substance is deemed not to be required.
