Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Water solubility (triethoxysilane): 5.6E+02 mg/l at 20°C (QSAR)

Water solubility (silanetriol): 7.9E+05 mg/l at 20°C (QSAR)
Water Solubility (ethanol): miscible at 20°C

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

The substance is hydrolytically unstable at pH 4, 7 and 9 (half-life less than 12 hours). The hydrolysis half-life of the substance is predicted to be 1 hr.

Predicted water solubilities of the substance and hydrolysis product are 5600 mg/l and 790000 mg/l respectively. These were predicted using an appropriate QSAR and so are considered reliable. In practice, the solubility of silanols is limited by their tendency to undergo condensation reactions to form siloxane dimers, oligomers and polymers.

Ethanol is miscible with water (Riddick JA 1986)
