Description of key information

Low potential for adsorption

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

For environmental exposure assessment, adsorption is predicted using the Koc = 7.31 (taken from EUSES) and a Koc of 1 for the hydrolysis product ethanol. (EC (2003) European Union Technical Guidance Document on Risk Assessment for New and Existing Substances, Part III, European Chemicals Bureau, 2003. Section 4.3 Soil and Sediment Sorption). The substance hydrolyses rapidly to silanetriol and ethanol. Silanetriol is an inorganic substance which is expected to enter natural biogeochemical cycles; aprediction is not applicable to inorganic silanols.
