Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

The substance Fatty acids, C10-12, esters with polylactic acid, sodium salts is readily biodegradable (75% after 28 d, OECD 301B) and thus will not persist in the environment. Abiotic degradation by hydrolysis is no relevant degradation pathway for the substance.
Fatty acids, C10-12, esters with polylactic acid, sodium saltsis an UVCB containing different ionisable constituents. The constituents are expected to exist mainly in the ionized from at environmentally relevant pH of 5-9 (pKa range: 3.3 – 3.51 at 20 °C). The log D of the main substance components at pH 5 is < 4 (-2.69 to 3.93) and decreases with increasing pH. At pH 7, a log D range of -4.63 to 2.22 was calculated, whereas a log D range of -5.83 to 1.90 was estimated for pH 9. Based on the log D values bioaccumulation of the substance is not expected. Accordingly, the potential to adsorb to soil and suspended particles is low. The log Koc values calculated for the ionized form of main constituentsat neutral pH are 1.99 – 2.18. The substance is moderately water soluble (0.12 g/L at 20 °C (flask method, OECD 105)) and is characterized by a high surface activity. Evaporation from the water phase is not expected due to the low vapour pressure of 1.84E-03 Pa (effusion method: weight loss, OECD 104).
