Referenceopen allclose all
According to the reference, the density values can be assumed to refer to temperatures near room temperature. For this reason 20 °C was filled in as temperature.
The relative density was calculated from the value of the handbook. The value was divided by the relative density of water at 4 °C (1.000).
Value from general accepted authoritative secondary source. No data available for temperature. But the substance is a solid and so the temperature will have negligible influence upon density.

Description of key information
Relative density of dipotassium disulfite: 2.3
Key value for chemical safety assessment
- Relative density at 20C:
- 2.3
Additional information
For the evaluation of this endpoint data from the CRC handbook were used as key information. According to ECHA, guidance on information requirements and chemical safety assessment – chapter R.7a, specific handbook data for physic-chemical properties are considered to be a reliable data source. Useful reference books and data compilations containing peer reviewed physico-chemical data include the CRC Handbook of Chemistry and Physics.
Two further secondary sources (Hawley's Condensed Chemical Dictionary and IARC Monographs on the Evaluation of Carcinogenic Risks to Humans) were used to support the key information. All references indicate that dipotassium disulfite has a (relative) density of 2.3.
