Additional information

Direct or indirect exposure to soil is not likely, hence no testing is required.

The usage patterns (intermediate/monomer) of the substance do not include direct exposure to soil.

More than 95% of the total production volume is used by the manufacturer internally with practically no emission to waste water. The volume distributed to third parties (industrial users) is handled under strictly controlled conditions with no or limited emissions to waste water.

Indirect exposure of soil through waste water is unlikely as there are no significant emissions to water resulting from the usage of the product. Potentially remaining emissions will be removed by waste water treatment. Total removal from Waste Water Treatment has been calculated to be ca. 95%, removal to air again being the dominant process with ca. 76% (Epiwin 4.0).

Indirect exposure through sludge from waste water treatment plants is unlikely, as retained norbornene will be dominantly removed to air. (Epiwin 4.0).
