Description of key information

According to ECHA guidance Table R.7.1–9, for solids the UN Test N.4 is preferable to generate the information for this endpoint. The UN Test N.4 assesses the self-heating of substances and mixtures. According to ECHA guidance Section R.7.10.7, Self-heating Substances and Mixtures, and Column 2 of REACH Annex VII, ‘The study does not need to be conducted for solids, if the substance has a melting point < 160°C, or if preliminary results exclude self-heating of the substance up to 400°C.’ The registered substance in its neat form is a solid with a melting point of 101°C. Therefore, the study for this endpoint has been waived.

Additional information

The registered substance is placed on the market as an aqueous solution. A study to determine the self-ignition temperature of Sophorolipids (aqueous solution) was performed according to the regulation EU A15. The self-ignition temperature for Sophorolipids solution was found to be 446 ± 5 °C.
