Endpoint:
boiling point
Data waiving:
study scientifically not necessary / other information available
Justification for data waiving:
the study does not need to be conducted because the substance is a solid which melts above 300°C
Justification for type of information:
JUSTIFICATION FOR DATA WAIVING
In accordance with column 2 of REACH Annex VII, the study (required in section 7.3) does not need to be conducted for solids if the melting point is above 300ºC. Based on the results of a study carried out on an analogue substance, the melting point of Synthetic Wollastonite was determined to be > 723 K (> 450 ºC). This is consistent with the melting point of silicas and silicates which have melting temperatures higher than 300°C.

Description of key information

A boiling point study is not considered necessary for Synthetic Wollastonite based on melting point data available on the read-across substances Soda-ash flux calcined kieselghur and silicic acid, calcium salt.

Key value for chemical safety assessment
