- Special Procedures for Fire Extinguishing: Use foam extinguishers: -CO2.
- Suitable extinguishing media: Extinguishing media suitable for surrounding fire (CO2, spray water, foam, dry powder )
- Inappropriate Extinguishing Media: Not known
- Choose extinguishing media suitable for the surrounding fire
Special hazards arising from the substance or mixture:
- Synthetic cryolite is not flammable
- The formation of hazardous decomposition products depends to a large extent on the circumstances of the combustion. A complex mixture of solids, liquids and gases may be produced, such as carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide and unidentified compounds.
- In the event of fire, toxic substances (aluminum fluoride, sodium fluoride) may be formed, the inhalation of such combustion products may have serious health effects.
Advise for fire fighters
- Wear full protective clothing and self-contained breathing apparatus
.

Accidental release measures

1. Personal precautions
1.1. For non-emergency personnel:
- Keep unprotected people away, allow only well-trained experts wearing suitable protective clothing to abide in the field of accident.
1.2. For emergency responders:
- Security staff puts the ventilation system into operation.
- The personnel must wear protective equipment. Do not wash the spilled product into pipes, water jets, sewers; it is collected mechanically, by absorbent or vacuum means and will be stored in containers, in order to avoid dusting.
- All measures should be taken to avoid spillage into the environment and especially in surface and ground water.
- Prevent the spread and formation of dust. Do not breathe in the dust. Use personal protective equipment for dust handling. Avoid contact with eyes and skin.
2. Environmental precautions:
- Dispose of spillage and waste (product/packaging) in accordance with all applicable environmental laws. Do not allow the substance and the resulting waste to enter sewers/soil/surface or ground water. Notify the respective authorities in accordance with local law in the case of environmental pollution immediately.
- Collect the product in appropriately labeled containers for disposal
3. Methods and material for containment and cleaning up:
- Collect the spilled material mechanically, by absorbent or vacuum means, then place the collected waste into appropriate, labelled, closable hazardous waste container till proper removal/disposal. During the collection, placement, disposal of the waste, wear appropriate individual protective equipment.
- Should be neutralised with lime milk.

Exposure controls / personal protection

In case of a hazardous material with no controlled concentration limit it is the employer’s duty to keep concentration levels down to a minimum achievable by existing scientific and technological means, where the hazardous substance poses no harm to workers.
1. Appropriate engineering controls:
- Avoid dust formation by using general and local ventilation systems to keep concentrations below acceptable limits. If ventilation is not sufficient, wear a dust mask.
- In pursuance of work is proper foresight needed to avoid spilling onto clothes and floors and to avoid contact with eyes and skin.
- Do not breathe dust.
- In the vicinity of the workplace safety shower and eye washing fountain has to be installed.
- Do not eat, smoke, store food in the workplace. Before breaks, wash your hands.
- Ensure cold-warm water washing facilitie.
- Observe conventional hygiene precautions. Ensure adequate ventilation.
- The ventilation system should be corrosion proof.
- Ensure good personal hygiene before eating, b drinking and smoking, before using the toilet or before using cosmetic products.
2. Individual protection measures, such as personal protective equipment:
2.1. Eye/face protection: wear appropriate protective glasses and face protection (EN 166). Avoid using contact lenses at work.
2.2. Skin protection:
a. Hand protection: use appropriate protective gloves (EN 374). The protective gloves will be changed immediately at the first signs of wear.
b. Other: use appropriate, closed protective clothes and protective boots.
2.3. Respiratory protection: in case of sufficient ventilation, not required. Use respiratory protection only if the occupational exposure limit is exceeded and / or product release (dust). Use only respiratory protection that complies with international / national standards. Particle filter P2 and P3
2.4. Thermal hazard: none known.
2.5. Hygiene measures: Wash hands before breaks and at the end of the program. Do not eat, drink or smoke in the work area. Personal hygiene will be ensured after handling the product before eating, drinking, smoking and before using the toilet. Decontaminate the equipment by washing with plenty of water.

Stability and reactivity

1. Reactivity:
- None known.
2. Chemical stability:
- Stable within normal temperature and general work conditions, if not exposed to acids. The product is stable under normal conditions of use and storage
3. Conditions to avoid:
- No data available
4. Incompatible materials:
- Acids. Contact with acids may produce hydrofluoric acid vapors

Disposal considerations

1. Information regarding the disposal of the product:
Do not dispose together with household waste. Do not enter into drains, watercourses and soil.
2. Information regarding the disposal of the packaging:
Dispose according to the relevant regulations.
Contaminated packaging must be fully emptied.
The uncleaned packaging has to be disposed in the same manner as the product.
3. Physical/chemical properties that may affect waste treatment options shall be specified:
None known.
4. Sewage disposal:
It should not get into waste water or sewer without dilution and neutralisation. Lime milk is suggested for neutralisation.
5. Special precautions for any recommended waste treatment:
No data available
If the handling is done properly (without physical damage to the packaging), the product can not cause any danger.
Remnants and product waste resulting from its use and empty containers must be disposed of in accordance with the regulations in force.
