Additional information

The influence of 2,2-bis(methylthio)propane to Daphnia magna in a semi-static reproduction test has been investigated through OECD Guideline 211 and according to GLP requirements (Goodband, 2012). The mortality of adults and the number of young Daphnia were determined after 21 days of exposure to a range of nominal test concentrations of 0.020, 0.064, 0.20, 0.64 and 2.0 mg/L (0.0088, 0.030, 0.087, 0.29 and 0.94 mg/L based on mean measured test concentrations). The test solutions were renewed 3 times per week. Despite every precaution being taken to minimize potential losses through volatility, the measured concentrations were lower than the nominal concentrations with only 17% to 58% of nominal value.

The 21d_EC10 for the reproduction based on mean measured test concentrations was calculated to be 0.17 mg test item/L. All the validity criteria were fulfilled.
