Description of key information

The pigment ( High-temperature calcination products of diiron trioxide and amorphous silica resulting in a glassy silica matrix) is an inorganic, red, odourless, solid powder.

- Melting point > 1000 °C

- relative density: 2.49.

- Particle size distribution: d10 = 3.3 µm, d50 = 7.8 µm, d90 = 17 µm

- Dustiness:

total: 117.26 mg/g

MMAD= 12.68 µm, GSD= 3.57

Fractional deposition in human respiratory tract: Head (ET): 58.4 %, Tracheobronchial (TB): 1.2 %, Pulmonary (PU): 2.9 %

- The transformation/dissolution at pH6

The dissolved concentrations of silica at a 1 mg/L loading after 7 and 28 days and a 100 mg/L loading after 7 days were below the LOD (0.07 µg/L) and therefore not determinable.

The dissolved concentrations of iron at a 1 mg/L loading after 7 and 28 days and a 100 mg/L loading after 7 days remained below < 1 µg/L.
