Conclusion on classification

As in the case of long-term/chronic toxicity, algae appear to be the most sensitive species with NOEC of 0.12 mg/L for Chlorella sp. (Johnson 2007). The maximum concentration of zinc ion in the registered substance is 16.5 %. Since the zinc concentration in the target substance is below 25 %, classification for chronic toxicity category 2 is triggered for the registered substance in accordance with Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008.
