READY BIODEGRADATION

The substance was tested for its ready biodegradability in the closed bottle test at nominal concentrations of 3 and 6 mg/l, following the OECD guideline no. 301D (1981).

The Chemical oxygen demand was determined to be 0.66 mg O2/mg test substance.

At the low concentration, the biodegradation reached 27 % after 28 days of incubation. At the high concentration no biodegradation was recorded after 28 days of Incubation, indicating that the test substance was toxic to bacteria at high concentrations. All the validity criteria were met. The substance is considered to be not readly biodegradable.

INHERENT BIODEGRADATION

The substance was investigated for its biodegradability in the ''28-Day Zahn-Wellens / EMPA Test" following the OECD guideline 302B (1992).

The mean concentration of DOC in the test flasks containing the test item varied from 65.8 mg/L to 68.6 mg/L over the exposure period of 28 days and remained practically unchanged in comparison to the initial mean DOC concentration of 66.1 mg/L measured on day 0 after 3 hours of exposure. Practically no DOC-removal was observed during the first three hours of exposure. The substance is not inherently biodegradable.
