Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Key result
Relative self-ignition temperature:
>= 120 °C
Remarks on result:
preliminary test

The pure test item Tetrahydrofolic acid indicated a self-heating and a self-ignition at atmospheric pressure starting at a temperature of 120 °C.

Due to the low self-heating temperature in the Grewer Oven, self-heating cannot be excluded for higher volumina. Further tests have to be performed for the classification.

Conclusions:
The pure test item Tetrahydrofolic acid indicated a self-heating and a self-ignition at atmospheric pressure starting at a temperature of 120 °C.
Due to the low self-heating temperature in the Grewer Oven, self-heating cannot be excluded for higher volumina. Further tests have to be performed for the classification.

Description of key information

Auto flammability: self-heating starts at > 120°C at 1013 hPa (UN Recommendations on the TRANSPORT OF DANGEROUS GOODS: Manual of Tests and Criteria, Rev. 6 (2015), VDI 2263 Sheet 1 Grewer Oven (1990), preliminary test, GLP)

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Autoflammability / Self-ignition temperature at 101 325 Pa:
120 °C

Additional information

The pure test item Tetrahydrofolic acid indicated a self-heating and a self-ignition at atmospheric pressure starting at a temperature of 120 °C.
