Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

2017-09-13 to 2018-01-31
Reliability:
1 (reliable without restriction)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
guideline study
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
UN Manual of Tests and Criteria: Test O.1 (Test for oxidizing solids)
Version / remarks:
2017
Deviations:
no
GLP compliance:
yes (incl. QA statement)
Contact with:
powdered cellulose
Duration of test (contact time):
3 min
Key result
Sample tested:
1:1 sample-to-cellulose ratio
Parameter:
mean burning time
Result:
> 180 s
Remarks on result:
flaming
Remarks:
The test item showed a slight burning
Key result
Sample tested:
4:1 sample-to-cellulose ratio
Parameter:
mean burning time
Result:
> 180 s
Remarks on result:
flaming
Remarks:
The test item showed a slight burning
Key result
Sample tested:
reference: 3:7 mixture potassium bromate + cellulose
Parameter:
mean burning time
Result:
116 s
Interpretation of results:
GHS criteria not met
Conclusions:
The burning time of the mixtures of the test item with cellulose (4:1 and 1:1) was higher than the burning time of the reference mixture of potassium bromate and cellulose (3:7). Due to the tests results the test item does not have to be classified as oxidizing solid.
This test item has to be classified as follows:
UN Transport Regulation: The test item does not have to be classified as oxidizing solid in Division 5.1 according to the UN Transport Regulation.
GHS and EC 1272/2008 (CLP Regulation), Annex 1: 2.14: The test item does not have to be classified as oxidizing solid according to GHS and EC 1272/2008 (CLP Regulation) Annex 1: 2.14.

Description of key information

- non oxidising (UN Test O.1, GLP)

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Oxidising properties:
non oxidising

Additional information

The burning time of the mixtures of the test item with cellulose (4:1 and 1:1) was higher than the burning time of the reference mixture of potassium bromate and cellulose (3:7). Due to the tests results the test item does not have to be classified as oxidizing solid.

Justification for classification or non-classification

Based on the available data, tetrahydrofolic acid does not meet the classification criteria for oxidising solids according to Regulation (EC) No. 1272/2008 (CLP and the Globally Harmonized System of Classification of Chemicals (GHS).
