Description of key information

No data on the hydrolysis of magnesium isopropanolate (CAS: 15571-48-9) are available. Therefore good quality data from very similar substances magnesium diethanolate (CAS: 2414-98-4) and magnesium methanolate (CAS: 109-88-6) were read across.

The hydrolysis studies for magnesium diethanolate (CAS: 2414-98-4) and magnesium methanolate (CAS: 109-88-6) were performed according to OECD test guideline 111. The hydrolysis half-life for both substances were < 1 minute.

On this basis the hydrolysis of magnesium isopropanolate is expected to be very fast within 1 minute and the hydrolysis products are magnesium hydroxide and isopropanol.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Half-life for hydrolysis:
1 min
at the temperature of:
20 °C
