Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets

Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Endpoint:
oxidising liquids
Data waiving:
study scientifically not necessary / other information available
Justification for data waiving:
the study does not need to be conducted because there are no chemical groups present in the molecule which are associated with oxidising properties and hence, the classification procedure does not need to be applied
Justification for type of information:
JUSTIFICATION FOR DATA WAIVING

According to Regulation (EC) No. 1907/2006 (REACH), Annex VII, 7.13, column 2, testing for this endpoint does not need to be conducted if the substance is incapable of reacting exothermically with combustible materials on the basis of the chemical structure (e.g. organic substances not containing oxygen or halogen atoms and these elements are not chemically bonded to nitrogen or oxygen). An examination of the chemical structure shows that the test substance does not contain chlorine or fluorine, and contains an oxygen atom only bonded to carbon. Consequently the substance is not predicted to possess oxidizing properties.

Description of key information

According to Regulation (EC) No. 1907/2006 (REACH), Annex VII, 7.13, column 2, testing for this endpoint does not need to be conducted if the substance is incapable of reacting exothermically with combustible materials on the basis of the chemical structure (e.g. organic substances not containing oxygen or halogen atoms and these elements are not chemically bonded to nitrogen or oxygen). The substance only contains oxygen bonded to carbon. As a consequence testing for this endpoint is not required.

Additional information

Justification for classification or non-classification

According to REGULATION (EC) No 1272/2008 (CLP), Annex I, 2.13.4.1, an organic liquid does not have to be assessed for oxidizing properties if the substance contains oxygen, fluorine or chlorine and these elements are chemically bonded only to carbon or hydrogen. The substance only contains oxygen bonded to carbon. As a consequence the substance is not classified as an oxidising liquid.
