Results of Pre Test

The test item began to melt at 66°C. The temperature at which the test item was completely melted to a sticky liquid was hardly visible because the test item is very dark and high viscous.

After cooling down the test item was visual unchanged.

DSC measurements:

In the DSC runs one endothermic event was detected. Referring to the observations of the pre-test this event can be indicated as melting point.

The crucible was

visual unchanged and opened the test item was carbonized.

Second Measurement

69.71 mg

66.12 mg

(weight loss = 77.7%)

The test item had left the crucible through the perforation.

The ambient pressure was recorded with 100258 Pa.

Mean of two determinations = 29.06°C (302.21K)

Standard deviation = 0.08°C (0.08K)

As the deviation between the two independant determinations was below 0.5 K the result can be considered valid.

Executive summary:

The melting point of the test substance was determined under GLP according to OECD 102 / EU A1 guideline.

It was evaluated by the DSC method with the Onset function and determined under these circumstances as the endothermic event with 29.06 ± 0.08 °C (302.21 ± 0.08 K).

Description of key information

The melting point evaluated by the DSC method with the Onset function was determined under these circumstances as the endothermic event with:

29.06 ± 0.08 °C (302.21 ± 0.08 K)

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Melting / freezing point at 101 325 Pa:
29.06 °C

Additional information

A reliable experimental study, conducted in accordance with conditions recommended in OECD guideline and under GLP, is available. It is considered as a key study. The result is retained as key data.
