Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Reference
Endpoint:
water solubility
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Reliability:
1 (reliable without restriction)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
guideline study
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
OECD Guideline 105 (Water Solubility)
GLP compliance:
no
Type of method:
flask method
Specific details on test material used for the study:
SOURCE OF TEST MATERIAL
- Name of test material (as cited in study report): 2,2',2''-nitrilotriethanol citrate
- Physical state: Liquid
- Batch nr: SEALS 2014-63-2-001
- Water content of the test item: 24.10%
Key result
Water solubility:
> 590.03 g/L
Conc. based on:
act. ingr.
Temp.:
20 °C
pH:
6.3
Remarks on result:
other: pH of a 10% solution
Details on results:
The following amounts of test item were added to 2 g of water
- 0.1 g: liquid, clear
- 1.0 g: liquid, cloudy, yellow
- 2.0 g: liquid, cloudy, yellow
- 3.0 g: liquid, cloudy, yellow
- 4.0 g: liquid, cloudy, yellow
- 5.0 g: liquid, cloudy, yellow
- 6.0 g: liquid, cloudy, yellow
- 7.0 g: liquid, cloudy, yellow
With 7 g of the test item being mixed into 2 g of water, a liquid with a total weight of 9 g has been formed. This is equivalent to 77.7% (w/w) of the test item in the liquid. Therefore, the water solubility of the test item was determined to be > 777 g/L.

DATA ADAPTATION

Because the test substance is sampled with an appreciable amount of water (24.10 %), a data correction based on the purity of the test item was applied to express the water solubility in g water-free matter/L.

The calculation for this is done as follows:

WS(dry matter) = WS(measured) * (1 - 0.241) = 777 g/L * 0.759 = > 590.03 g/L

WS = water solubility

Description of key information

In a water solubility test performed according to OECD guideline 105 the water solubility of the test item was determined to be >777g/L at 20 °C. The water solubility of the dry matter substance was calculated to be >590.03 g/L.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Water solubility:
590.03 g/L
at the temperature of:
20 °C
